Use AppleScripts to automate the task of adding track numbers, capitalizing track names, and removing artist and album information from the front of track names.

The scripts used in this video are from Doug’s AppleScripts for iTunes collection.  In particular, I used:

You can now burn CD TEXT from iTunes, but can you read CD TEXT?
Only if you download this free plugin from Doug’s AppleScripts for iTunes.

You can also submit CD TEXT info to the CDDB online and retrieve the track names from any other computer, but be sure to allow 48 hours for the database to update.

This simple revolution in the nail clipping industry keeps those clippings from flying around ad hoc.

As lovely as they are, sometimes you want unused icons to go away from your dock. If your printer application doesn’t close after the print jobs complete, check the Auto Hide menu item.

If you’ve been thinking about replacing that $100 512kb flash drive, stop thinking.

[photo] ESV Daily Bible Reading Plan

I got the English Standard Version study bible when it came out, last October, after six years of waiting. I’ve been trying to keep up with the daily reading plan that the ESV has in the back—a chapter or so from four books of different categories. You can read the daily passages (or listen to them!) for free at the Crossway Publications website, in your inbox, or through your favorite RSS reader.

wet phone drying in rice bag

Magically fix a wet phone, or camera, or what have you, by placing it in a ziplock bag filled with rice. The other day, my cousin fell into a pond, giving his phone and camera the deep six. When he asked around to see what people do when there phone gets wet, they all said to try the rice bag!

Sounds like urban legend—I was skeptical, and he is the biggest skeptic I know—but it worked! Just be patient, and eventually the cellphone will dry out and function. Amazing!

Update: My cousin’s phone revived over night, and his camra did too after a few days.

I thought this was a pretty fun place to visit. A subsequent visit found the door too jam-packed with ice to enter. Click to see the other image at flickr.

For your optimal listening pleasure, I am going to start building a collection of guitar chords here.  Check back often, and suggest your own finds!  Some of them are good for fingerpicking, but not necessarily for strumming.  Play through them and hopefully you get an inspiration for your next big hit!
